3sun Group Gets Full Membership to Lifting Equipment Engineers Association

3sun Group, a specialist provider of products and services to the global energy industry, has been elected full membership to the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) on its first application.

With over 700 member companies based in 57 countries, LEEA is established around the world as the leading representative body for the lifting industry. Members work in every aspect of the industry, from design, manufacture, refurbishment and repair, through to the hire, maintenance and use of lifting equipment.

In the absence of an official licensing system, LEEA developed its own widely respected examination qualifications, which has been running successfully for over 50 years.

Following a stringent safety and standards audit, 3sun Group has been granted full membership status allowing it to train technicians to a globally recognised standard.

Graham Hacon, Managing Director at 3sun Group said: “Securing LEEA membership demonstrates to our clients that we are committed to training our staff to the highest possible level, with the end result of offering customers an unrivalled service.

“Working within the oil and gas and renewable energy industries, it is essential that we have the required accreditation in place and as a world renowned industry body, LEEA was a key priority for us. With the recent acquisition of a sling press which allows in-house manufacturing of wire rope slings, this membership will continue the Group’s developing presence in the lifting industry. In the near future, the Group wish to purchase a test bed and a test rig. This will allow 3sun Group to provide a more complete service for testing and servicing lifting equipment.”

LEEA is a member of the CPD (Continuing Personal Development) certification service and offer practical and distance learning courses which cover all aspects of testing and examining lifting equipment. Its educational and training activities are independently certified for industry-wide and pan-disciplinary CPD purposes.

Mr Hacon continued: “3sun Group prides itself on developing the very best talent. As LEEA members, we hope to also gain accreditation for the courses currently run by the Group, internally and externally. This will support our aim of attracting and retaining the very best workforce.”

3sun Group employs over 200 staff offshore and onshore and is currently working on several projects in the UK and Europe and has extensive overseas experience having worked in Europe, Asia, Africa, USA and New Zealand.

3sun Group is headquartered in Great Yarmouth in England. It also has bases in Oban and Aberdeen in Scotland. The business has also expanded internationally with the creation of bases in Bergen, Norway, and in Esbjerg, Denmark, it is also currently looking at other UK and overseas locations.
