UK: Belfast Harbour Creates Opportunities for Future Investments

UK Belfast Harbour Creates Opportunities for Future Investments

According to the ScottishPower Renewables CEO, Keith Anderson, Belfast Harbour has created great opportunities for the future investments, writes the Belfast Telegraph news portal.

Earlier this year, DONG Energy and ScottishPower Renewables have taken over a new £50m offshore wind terminal which covers an area of 50 acres.

This first purpose-built offshore wind harbour in UK will see around 100 wind turbines shipped to the West of Duddon Sands project location.

“I think the good positive thing about Belfast is that it is home to the first purpose-built construction port for wind power in the whole of the UK,” said Anderson for the Belfast Telegraph.

He continued: “What that should do is encourage other investors to come into that area. What you have is the centre of a hub, and we hope to see lots of manufacturers moving into that area. Why wouldn’t foundation experts and turbine assembly firms look to move into that area, it’s created a fantastic opportunity? “

“Belfast came to fore in terms of being able to make available the space.”
