Australia: Carnegie Presents at 2013 World Renewable Energy Congress

Wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy Limited (CWE) announces that Research and Intellectual Property Manager, Dr Laurence Mann presented to the WREC as part of the Plenary Session on Photovoltaics and Ocean Power.

As a local committee member, Carnegie was strongly represented at the WREC, with Research and Intellectual Property Manager Dr Laurence Mann, participating in 2 sessions – “Opportunities and Challenges for Ocean Renewable Energy in the Twenty-First Century” and as the Chair of the Wind Energy session.

Carnegie’s Project Development Officer, Mr Tim Sawyer chaired the session on Wave Energy, with one of Carnegie’s senior engineers presenting a paper in the same session.

In addition to formal WREC proceedings, Carnegie hosted an informal mixer at its information booth to provide the research community with a chance to share knowledge and experiences in an informal environment. Represented at the mixer were the Department of Environment and Conservation, Curtin University and Murdoch University.

Carnegie’s involvement in the WREC also reinforced the company’s strong relationship with WA universities. In addition to its strong relationship with Murdoch University, Carnegie also has ties with Curtin University (Curtin), recently donating a gas analyser, no longer needed by the company, to Curtin’s School of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering.

Carnegie Wave Energy’s Project Development Officer, Tim Sawyer, said:

“Carnegie understands the importance of knowledge sharing in the academic community, and it is important to us to maintain strong relationships with universities and other research organisations.”
