Sino-Dutch Offshore Wind Seminar Held in Shanghai

One day prior to the start of China Offshore Wind Expo in Shanghai, a Sino-Dutch Offshore Wind Seminar was organized by the Consulate of the Netherlands in Shanghai and the Dutch ‘China wind consortium’.

Pontis Asia director Martijn van Breugel was closely involved in the development of this high-end event which was attended by key persons in this field such as Peter Potman, Dutch Consul in Shanghai, Mr. Shi Pengfei, vice president of CWEA and, Mr. Li Junfeng, President of CREIA.

The seminar was organised in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) and the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs. The MoU signed in 2009, aims to enhance the cooperation between China and the Netherlands in the field of sustainable utilisation of energy resources.

The objective of the seminar was to explore possibilities for bilateral cooperation between China and the Netherlands in the offshore wind power. Chinese and Dutch experts presented developments in the sector in their respective countries and possible forms of cooperation were discussed.

“By bringing together all decision makers such as governments, businesses and experts, we aim to contribute to faster and better results in the cooperation between our countries. Yesterday’s outcome was very promising and follow up meetings are scheduled later this year,” says Martijn.
