Shanghai Electric Targets 30 Pct in China’s Offshore Wind Turbine Market

As offshore wind sector in China is set to grow rapidly, Shanghai Electric Group voiced its intention to become the leading company in the country’s offshore wind turbine market by taking over 30% thereof, writes the Shanghai Daily.

The company will supply 28 wind turbines, with 3.6 MW capacity each, for the second phase of the Donghai Bridge Wind Farm off Shanghai, which is being developed by Shanghai Donghai Wind Power Co. The developer said that this project is scheduled to start with construction by the end of this year provided that the Shanghai Development and Reform Commission gives a green light, Bloomberg informs in today’s news.

In 2011, Shanghai Electric Group established two joint ventures with Siemens, which allowed it to use Siemens’ technology and in that way create better conditions for its position in Chinese offshore wind energy sector.
