UK: HBP Systems Backs Humber Renewables Awards

UK HBP Systems Backs Humber Renewables Awards

A SCUNTHORPE-based IT company has been announced as the latest supporter of an awards event dedicated to the region’s growing green energy industry.

HBP Systems is sponsoring a category in the Humber Renewables Awards 2013.

Directors at the business said the involvement with the event demonstrates the importance of the clean energy sector to the future of many organisations.

The awards are run in recognition of the area’s emerging position as a hub for renewable energy – including on and offshore wind, bioenergy, micro-generation and tidal power.

It is hoped developments surrounding this industry, and its associated supply chains, will create thousands of new jobs.

Phil Denham, HBP Systems’ commercial director, said the sector was crucial to the future of the Humber’s economy.

He said: “It is absolutely vital and will play a major part for many years to come.

“Not only has it already provided deals to big businesses but it has also provided work to small and medium-sized businesses throughout our area, which should help to increase job opportunities and secure the future of many organisations.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring the awards, as we are keen to support the success of local businesses, especially with the renewables industry being so key to the local economy.”

The awards are run by Humber-based marketing firm Footprint Renewables.

The accolades recognise the success of people, businesses and other organisations contributing to the green energy industry.

There are 10 categories available to enter, with HBP Systems sponsoring the Renewables Innovation section – celebrating how businesses, universities or other organisations are breaking new ground at any stage of the green energy supply chain.

Mr Denham said: “As an IT and business software provider, HBP Systems is focused on helping companies to grow and we hope to show our support for these who succeed and expand through innovation with our sponsorship of this award.

“So many people work very hard so it’s great to be able to come together as a local community, at an awards event like this, in order to praise each other’s work.

“Only by working together in such a way as a group of businesses will we ensure that our local economy is strong and vibrant.”

HBP Systems was founded in 1991 and is one of the leading providers of IT support and accounting software in the UK.

The company employs nearly 50 people at its head office in Scunthorpe and, as part of the HBP Group, also has offices across the country, in Barnsley, Newcastle, Carlisle, Manchester and Peterborough.

The organisation works with small and medium-sized businesses to implement and support complete IT networks as well as accounting and business software from providers such as Sage, Pegasus and IRIS.

The Humber Renewables Awards were first run last year, attracting dozens of entries.
