Countdown to deadline on for Offshore Achievement Awards

UK: Countdown to Deadline for Offshore Achievement Awards

Countdown to deadline for Offshore Achievement Awards

The recent boom in the energy industry is being reflected in the increased interest for this year’s Offshore Achievement Awards.

Inquiries for the Significant Contribution award are already much higher than last year, after the category was widened to take into account a greater number of potential candidates across the sector. Interest across each of the categories is generally up on last year.

The awards, which were successfully re-launched in 2011 by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen section, will be open for entries until December 1.

The 27th awards ceremony takes place on March 21 and will move this year to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre to cope with the high demand for tables.

Ian Phillips, director with Petrofac company CO2DeepStore Ltd, and the SPE board member responsible for organising the OAAs, said: “Due to the success of last year’s awards, we are experiencing strong interest from companies across the UK. A number of entries have already been submitted and the judges expect to be kept very busy over the coming weeks once the deadline is reached.

“I would urge any company or individual considering entering the awards to do so now. Winning an Offshore Achievement Award can bring great benefits, as the awards provide a platform for companies to showcase their achievements and raise the profile of their business.”

The 2012 awards took place at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen in front of around 400 people. Winners included Expro Group, AMEC and 3sun Group, with Professor Alex Kemp picking up the Lifetime Achievement award.

The Offshore Achievement Awards are open to entries from all UK-registered companies involved in offshore engineering activity. Last year the awards were opened up to offshore renewables companies for the first time, reflecting the growing reach of the North Sea industry. This year will again see awards open to renewables as well as the traditional oil and gas players.

As well as recognising exceptional business growth, the awards will focus on particular innovations, safety breakthroughs and collaborative efforts, as well as individual success.
