Germany: EnBW Delays Hohe See Decision

Due to the uncertainties in the regulations and amendment process of the Energy Act underway , EnBW, one of the largest energy companies in Germany has decided to postpone the decision on EUR 1.5 billion investment in the North Sea Offshore Wind.

“We need legal clarity and reliable framework conditions to make an investment decision for well over EUR1.5 billion, “ said EnBW CTO Dr. Hans-Josef Zimmer.

Therefore, EnBW will await the currently ongoing legislative process to finish. “Until then, we stay committed to our goal to build the wind farm EnBW Hohe See with 500 megawatts of installed capacity in the North Sea,” Zimmer added.

EnBW’s offshore portfolio consists of four wind farms with a capacity of over 1,200 megawatts.
