UK: Three Winners of Tidal Leasing Round Known
Later today,the Crown Estate will confirm lease agreements for a number of demonstration project sites in connection with the Scottish Government’s Saltire Prize.
The Eco-Island Partnership, collaboration between the Isle of Wight Council and a group of local businesses, Scotrenewables Tidal Power and Minesto are among winners of the Crown Estate’s latest leasing round, according to Business Green news site.
The Eco-Island Partnership has secured a lease agreement for the GBP 3millionSolent Ocean Energy Centreproject, which would comprise two testing areas and a centre for research, development and manufacture of tidal turbines.
Furthermore, Scotrenewables Tidal Power is awarded a lease for a site at Lashy Sound on the west coast of Eday, to develop commercial floating tidal energy turbine technology.
Minesto, a Swedish technology developer has won a lease to deploy a quarter-scale prototype of its 12kW Deep Green Ocean Kite in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland.
