AREVA to Meet Potential Suppliers in Lowestoft, UK

One of Europe’s biggest wind turbine manufacturers is heading to Lowestoft to meet potential suppliers and partners.

French company AREVA is holding a meet-the-buyer event at OrbisEnergy, where it will outline its products and plans for the UK offshore market, and hold one-to-one sessions with selected companies in the regional supply chain.

The event, which takes place on October 23rd, is being organised by the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR). It is part of the extensive work that they are doing to support the development of the energy supply chain in the East of England. Their work is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Simon Gray, chief executive of EEEGR, said: “AREVA is going to be a major player in the later round two and round three UK offshore wind farms, and this is a major opportunity for companies in the region to engage with them at an early stage.”

AREVA will provide information on its M5000 turbine and talk about its operations and maintenance plans. The types of tasks they are particularly interested in, and which are currently outsourced to subcontractors for its German projects, include mid-voltage maintenance of transformers, big oil exchanges for the main bearing, exchange of hydraulic hoses, welding, blade maintenance and maintenance for the service lift.

A global leader in nuclear power, Paris-based AREVA is expanding its operations into renewable energies, including wind, solar, bioenergies, hydrogen and storage.

Demand for the event is expected to be high so companies are encouraged to register early to secure their place.
