UK: Lloyds to Invest Around GBP 333 Million in Renewables

As the Bloomberg writes, Lloyds Banking Group is ready to invest around GBP 333 million in renewable energy, out of GBP 1 billion grant to help implement the government’s Infrastructure Plan.

Chris Heathcote, global head of project finance at the bank, said the bank is hopping to invest all the money within 18 months.

The bank is reviewing up to 24 projects in many areas, such as social and economic infrastructure, conventional power facilities and clean energy.

Lloyds is set to back wind, both onshore and offshore, solar and biomass projects.

“The areas that seem to be doing the most at the moment are offshore wind, including the off-take connections, and biomass is looking interesting, but I’m slightly cautious as it’s still early days for biomass,” Mr. Heathcote said to Bloomberg.
