Humber Offshore Wind Energy Businesses Take Centre Stage at RenewableUK's Event

The Humber region’s offshore wind energy businesses are taking centre stage in London this week.

Team Humber Marine Alliance member companies are out in force in the capital for the Global Offshore Wind conference and exhibition, and to mark the launch of the new Humber Renewables brand.

The strength and breadth of the Humber region’s green energy is reflected in THMA members at the show, including Associated British Ports, Able UK, Alpha Energy, Andrew Jackson, Barrett Steel, HOTA, P&O Ferries, Survitec and TATA Steel.

“This is an excellent line up of companies, which along with the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, and five local authorities, makes for a formidable display of renewable energy business expertise,” said Mark O’Reilly, director Team Humber Marine Alliance, speaking after the launch dinner in London for the new Humber Renewables brand.

Led by the Humber LEP and sponsored and hosted by law firm Nabarro, the Humber Renewables dinner brought together senior representatives from global finance companies, international investors, energy companies and developers, including BNP Paribas, GE Corporate, Forewind and SottishPower.

“We have been able to highlight to the City the fact that In terms of location, land and financial incentives the Humber is second to none, and that the Humber is incredibly well-positioned for offshore wind developments and as a long-term industrial, employment and skills base,” added Mr O’Reilly.

Humber LEP Manager Richard Kendall said: “The united Humber presence will be bigger, bolder and more confident than ever before.”

Global Offshore Wind, at ExCel London from June 13-14, is an annual event run by Renewable UK, and is one of the main conferences and exhibitions in the offshore wind sector’s calendar. In all, 300 organisations will be exhibiting for about 5,000 visitors.

The Humber’s joint presence at Global Offshore Wind 2012 under the Humber Renewables brand includes a Humber pavilion with representatives from the Humber LEP, the local authorities, the Grimsby Renewables Partnership, plus Team Humber Marine Alliance, which is on stand 193.
