USA: Pacific Power Set to Fund Local Renewable Energy Projects

USA: Pacific Power Set to Fund Local Renewable Energy Projects

On March 15, Pacific Power began accepting  applications for the Blue Sky program, which refers to community renewable energy projects that need funding. Deadline for submitting applications is June 15.

The eligible projects must be locally owned and within Pacific Power’s service area. They also must have a generating capacity of less than 10 MW.

Renewable energy project types that generate grid-tied electricity are eligible to receive funding through the Blue Sky program if they produce new sources of electricity generation by wind, solar PV, geothermal, low-impact hydro (certified by the Low Impact Hydropower Institute – LIHI), pipeline or irrigation canal hydropower, wave energy or tidal action and low-emissions biomass.

Applicants will be notified by November 16 about the award decision. The selected projects will sign an agreement detailing the conditions and requirements of accepting the Blue Sky funds.

The projects must be completed by December 31, 2013 and be verified by provision of relevant documentation. The award recipients can expect payment once the project and associated reporting are complete.
