Denmark: Anholt Substation Scheduled for Operation on 1 August 2012

At Easter, Energinet.dk’s approximately 1600 tonnes heavy top section for the offshore substation was hoisted into position with assistance from a Dutch crane vessel. The substation platform will connect the 111 wind turbines in the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm to the Danish power grid.

On Good Friday 6 April 2012, the platform was installed on the foundation, and subsequently the three transformers were hoisted into position on the platform by A2SEA’s newly upgraded installation vessel Sea Power. The transformers are to step up the voltage from the offshore wind turbines’ 33kV to 22kV before the power is sent to the power grid onshore through a submarine cable.

The substation is scheduled for operation on 1 August 2012.
