Enova and METCentre to Boost Marine Energy Production in Norway

Enova and METCentre have signed a collaborative agreement whose purpose is to facilitate an increase in technological development within marine energy production in Norway.

We wish to facilitate the implementation of full scale testing of new technology in Norway, both for Norwegian and foreign technology developers. Enova is financing up to 50% of the investment costs in the case of a full scale testing, says Rune Holmen, Area Manager for New Technology in Enova.

The parties will cooperate to make the possibilities of implementing full scale testing in Norway better known. Foreign companies have shown interest in METCentre and METCentre hopes to attract more international players to Norway.

METCentre can provide licenses, infrastructure, data and operational services associated with the testing of new technology within marine energy production, says Arvid Nesse, General Manager of METCentre.

Marine Energy Test Centre AS operates a test centre for marine renewable energy with emphasis on floating offshore wind installations. The test centre is co-located with Hywind and cooperates with Statoil regarding infrastructure.

The test centre provides infrastructure, licenses and services for the testing of floating offshore wind installations. The test center is located in Karm0y in the Rogaland County.

It is the METCentre’s goal to become the preferred international test centre for floating off shore wind technology. Moreover MetCentre aims to facilitate increased research into marine energy
