E.ON UK is one of the top power suppliers and producers in the UK. A subsidiary of German utility E.ON, the company has operations in electricity generation and supply. The company is headquartered in Coventry, England. E.ON UK supplies electricity (and natural gas) to 5 million non-regulated retail customers. The company has regulated power utility assets, and operates conventional and renewable energy-based power plants with a generating capacity of 10,575 MW. Its Central Networks unit operated a distribution network serving 5 million power customers. However, in 2011, E.ON sold this unit to PPL for $5.7 billion as part of an ongoing divestment plan.

The company generates electricity through diversified generation portfolio comprising coal, oil, gas, biomass, wind, and hydro based power plants. E.ON UK principally operates in Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, Italy, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, the US and Russia.

Recently, E.ON unveiled that its Humber Gateway wind farm, located off the East Yorkshire coast, will consist of a 73 turbine array that will generate up to 219MW of electricity, enough energy to power up to 170,000 homes. E.ON is committed to growing its offshore wind fleet across Europe and this announcement forms part of a GBP 2 billion investment program in offshore wind, encompassing Humber Gateway (219 MW) off the coast of the UK, Amrumbank (288 MW) off the coast of Germany and Karehamn (48MW) off the coast of Sweden.
