Typhoon Offshore Opens London Office (UK)
Typhoon Offshore, the independent energy innovator, has opened an office in London to enhance its presence in one of the world’s largest, and fastest growing, markets for offshore wind power generation. This announcement follows Typhoon Offshore’s earlier announcement that it opened an office in Seoul, South Korea.
The UK office, located in the City, will focus on sourcing, financing and structuring deals for UK offshore wind farm projects and will draw on the expertise from Typhoon Offshore’s headquarters in The Netherlands to bring projects to financial close.
Ian Taylor, Head of UK Operations for Typhoon, said: “The opening of our London office is an important development for Typhoon Offshore and provides us with an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in enabling the UK offshore wind industry meet its ambitions. The size of the investment required means that new sources of funding are required as well as the skills and experience necessary to structure these deals.
Typhoon Offshore is one of the very few companies with this capability and track-record.”
“We are very pleased that Ian will manage our operations in the UK”, according to Michael van der Heijden, Managing Director of Typhoon Offshore. “After a career with Rolls-Royce and GEC Alstom as a mechanical engineer, Ian has held a number of senior positions in the energy industry over the past 14 years, initially with the energy supplier TXU developing their CHP and renewable energy businesses. He then headed up SLP Energy, the UK onshore and offshore wind farm developer and offshore wind EPC contractor, before taking a position as Investment Director with Good Energies, the green private equity firm. With several year’s experience in the development, contracting and financing of renewable energy projects, I very much look forward to working with Ian to develop our UK business.”
