Seaway Heavy Lifting to Install Foundations on Offshore Windpark RIFFGAT (Germany)

Seaway Heavy Lifting Contracting Ltd (SHL) is being awarded the Foundation installation contract for the Offshore Windpark RIFFGAT project by Offshore-Windpark RIFFGAT GmbH & Co.

Offshore Windpark Riffgat is planned with 30 turbines (3.6 MW each) and one substation, covering an area of 5 x 1.2 km² and located 15 km North West of the island Borkum in German waters. Installation of the foundations will take place during summer 2012 with one of SHL’s self-propelled mono-hull crane vessels.

The water depth on the windpark varies from 18 m to 23 m LAT. The Monopiles have a tip diameter of 5.7 m or 6.5 m, a top diameter of 4.7 m, a maximum length of 71.8 m and a maximum weight of 738 Mt. The Transition Pieces are 26 m in height, with a tip diameter of 5.6m and a structural weight of 207 Mt. With this project, SHL will again be able to show its valuable contribution for installing offshore turbine foundations. Riffgat is SHL’s second wind turbine foundation installation contract in 2012 in Germany.
