The port of Rotterdam is opposing Dutch Government’s plans to install a wind farm off the Maasvlakte, writes Dutch NOS news site.

Rotterdam Port Concern About Offshore Wind Development

Maritime pilots’ organization (Loodswezen) and the Port of Rotterdam representatives think the wind turbines would endanger shipping near shore.

The Government is currently reviewing the possibility to place wind turbines relatively close to the shore, while the leaked study shows that the area offshore the Maasvlakte, a part of Europoort, seems to be the most promising.

Coastal communities and local businesses have recently raised their concern regarding wind farm development near the shore, as it could affect tourism. They fear the wind turbines would ruin the view.
