Stowen already has agreements with SSE for ad hoc services for the 504 MW Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm. The UK company says that adding the Beatrice project allows it to widen its footprint whilst keeping consistency in personnel requirements throughout the client’s portfolio.

At the beginning of this year, SSE signed a framework agreement with Stowen for inspection services at the two offshore wind farms.

The Beatrice offshore wind farm has been in operation since 2019 approximately 13 kilometres off the Caithness coast.

The 588 MW offshore wind farm comprises 84 Siemens Gamesa 7 MW turbines, the first of which were installed and delivered first power in July 2018.

With a capital expenditure of around GBP 2.5 billion, Beatrice was one of the largest ever private investments in Scottish infrastructure.

The project is owned by SSE Renewables (40 per cent), Red Rock Power (25 per cent), The Renewables Infrastructure Group (17.5 per cent), and Equitix (17.5 per cent).

As the majority shareholder, SSE Renewables led the construction process and is managing operations and maintenance (O&M) from its base in Wick.
