Under the contract with Seaway 7, the renewables business unit of Subsea 7, Siem Offshore’s OSCV will be deployed for walk-to-work activities at the site off Scotland, starting in the fourth quarter of this year.

The contract has been signed for 300 days firm plus options, the longest firm contract Siem Offshore has signed for its OSCVs since 2018, the company said.

“We are pleased to see yet another contract within the Offshore wind market, further building upon our experience and extensive track record within the renewable market”, the company said. “From a holistic market perspective, it is also positive to witness longer firm durations securing utilization over the winter period, which has been a challenge during previous years”.

SSE Renewables, which is developing the Seagreen 1 offshore wind farm together with TotalEnergies, selected Seaway 7 to provide engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the foundations and inter-array cables for the 1,075 MW offshore wind farm in 2020.

The Seagreen 1 wind farm, located some 27 kilometres off the Angus coast, will comprise 114 Vestas 10 MW turbines which are scheduled to be operational in 2022/23.
