Swancor Renewable Energy Developing 4.4 GW Formosa Sequel
Swancor Renewable Energy has revealed plans to develop the 4.4 GW Formosa 4 offshore wind project off the Miaoli County in Taiwan.
The portfolio would consist of three sites, including Formosa 4-1, Formosa 4-2 and Formosa 4-3, which would cover a large maritime area located 18 to 20km offshore.
Swancor Renewable Energy said it had lodged the projects with the Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency this week.
Both bottom-fixed and floating foundations are under consideration for the portfolio and the choice will be subject to site conditions, the company said.
The plan is to have the wind farms operational post-2025.
“Swancor Renewable Energy has been preliminary developing Formosa 4 since 2019. We are excited to support Taiwan Government’s ambitious offshore wind renewable energy target,” said Lucas Lin, Chief Executive Officer of Swancor Renewable Energy.
“We will be leveraging our development experience from Formosa 1 and Formosa 2 with our new portfolio and are looking forward to extending our relationships with the Miaoli County Government and the local stakeholders.”
To remind, Swancor Renewable Energy took part in the development of the operational 128 MW Formosa 1 offshore wind farm, and holds a stake in the 376 MW Formosa 2 project currently being constructed.
