In total, EEW SPC will process over 19,000 tons of steel for this order between January 2020 and September 2020.

Located in the IJsselmeer (Lake Ijssel) some six kilometres off the Frisian coast, the nearshore wind farm is being built by Zuiderzeewind, a consortium of Van Oord and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

The monopiles will support the wind farm’s 89 Siemens Gamesa 4.3MW turbines which are expected to be commissioned in 2021.

Following the expected commissioning, Siemens Gamesa will be responsible for the maintenance of the wind farm for a period of 16 years.

Eneco purchased all the power generated at the nearshore wind farm for a period of 15 years.
