Vattenfall has awarded Bibby HydroMap second unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey on the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone in the Dutch North Sea.

The UK-based seabed survey company has already commenced operations on the 760MW Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) III & IV.

The news comes after Vattenfall was announced as the winner of the site with a subsidy-free bid in July 2019, with construction scheduled for 2022.

Bibby HydroMap has been operational on Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) I & II since March 2019, and the new project follows a similar multi-vessel approach. Bibby Tethra and Bibby Athena will together acquire over 5,000-line km of high-density magnetometer, side scan sonar, multibeam echosounder and parametric sub-bottom data over the Dutch wind farms.

Both vessels will be equipped with a comparable suite of sensors, including dual EIVA ScanFish ROTVs each accommodating four magnetometers designed to provide a dense magnetometer dataset across key locations of the site.

Bibby HydroMap’s recent charter of SeaZip Fix will also aid acquisition across the sites acquiring ultra-high-resolution seismic data over the Dutch sites.

”We are very pleased to continue our work with Vattenfall on the Hollandse Kust Zuid Wind Farm Zones III & IV and look forward to bringing our experience from working on HKZ I & II into this new project,” Bibby HydroMap Project Manager Graham Willis.
