The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy has selected Vattenfall as the winner of the zero-subsidy Hollandse Kust (Zuid) III & IV offshore wind tender.
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) opened the tender to develop the Hollandse Kust (Zuid) III & IV site without government subsidies on 1 March.
Besides Vattenfall, the call attracted bids from major developers such as Ørsted, Engie, and the Witwind consortium of Shell, Van Oord and Eneco.
Hollandse Kust (Zuid) III & IV will comprise two offshore wind zones situated 20km off the coast of The Hague with a combined capacity of 760MW. The wind farm will be operational in 2023.
To remind, last year Vattenfall won the tender to build Hollandse Kust (Zuid) I & II, the first Dutch non-subsidised offshore wind farm.
