The comment period for the French pilot project, set to be located some 15km offshore Gruissan, will be held from 21 June to 22 July.

The events will take place at the Town Hall of Narbonne, the Gruissan Town Hall and the Port-La Nouvelle Town Hall.

According to the project team, the comment period will address environmental issues, as well as cables, grid connection and the extension of the Port-La Nouvelle substation.

The EolMed project will comprise four Senvion 6.2MW turbines installed on Ideol’s Damping Pool floating foundations in an average depth of 55m.

The 25MW floating wind farm is expected to enter construction this year and start operating by late 2020/early 2021 for a period of 20 years.

The European Commission approved French plans to support EolMed, as well as the Groix Belle Ile, Golfe du Lion and Provence Grand Large demonstration wind farms in February.
