EEW SPC Signs Kriegers Flak Monopiles Contract

EEW Special Pipe Constructions has secured a contract with Vattenfall to manufacture the monopile foundations for the 605MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm in the Danish Baltic Sea.

The production of the 72 foundations is planned for the period between May and September 2019.

In total, about 43,200 tons of steel is to be processed, EEW said.

“We are very happy that Vattenfall has again commissioned us to manufacture the monopiles for one of their offshore wind projects,” said Heiko Mützelburg, CEO/Managing Director of EEW SPC.

“This is good news for our company just before Christmas. With the collaboration on the Sandbank project having been so outstanding, I am convinced that we will also successfully complete Kriegers Flak together.”

The monopiles will support the project’s 72 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines planned to be in full operation before the end of 2021.

Vattenfall, the owner and developer, recently made the final investment decision (FID) for the 605MW wind farm.
