The project will comprise a total of 44 MHI Vestas V164-8.0 MW turbines, optimized to deliver a maximum output of 8.4MW.

Offshore works began in May with the installation of scour protection at the site some 23km off the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium.

Van Oord’s vessel Aeolus kicked off the installation of the monopile foundations at the beginning of August, which was shortly followed by the installation of the substation.

The 370MW wind farm is scheduled for commissioning in the third quarter of 2019 when it will become the largest offshore wind farm in Belgian waters.

Norther NV, a partnership between Elicio and Boreas – a joint venture between Eneco and Diamond Generating Europe, is responsible for the development, the installation and the operation of the project.
