Siemens LIDT Hands Over First China-Made Offshore Wind Turbine Transformer

Siemens’ Liquid-Immersed Distribution Transformers (LIDT) division has started the production of offshore wind turbine transformers in Jinan, China.

During the inauguration ceremony, LIDT handed over the first offshore wind turbine transformer built in China for the Chinese market to Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group.

Shanghai Electric holds a licence to manufacture, sell, and install Siemens Gamesa’s 4MW, 6MW and 7MW wind turbines, as well as the 8MW Direct Drive turbine.

Currently, Shanghai Electric and Siemens Gamesa have over 330 wind turbines installed offshore China corresponding to the capacity of over 1.2GW.
