J. Murphy & Sons is currently installing the onshore section of cables that will connect Ørsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm to the UK grid.

The cable route runs approximately 38 kilometres from the landfall site at Horseshoe Point to the onshore substation at North Killingholme, North Lincolnshire.

Onshore cable installation works are expected to be completed by November 2018. The wind farm is scheduled to be fully commissioned by 2020

Hornsea Project One, located off the Yorkshire coast, will comprise 174 wind turbines installed across an area of 407km2, and will be the first offshore wind farm in the world to exceed one gigawatt in capacity.
