Natural Power Recruits Offshore Head from Within

Nancy McLean has been appointed to the role of Head of Offshore to lead Natural Power’s offshore business and explore new opportunities both within the UK and internationally.

McLean joined Natural Power in 2003 and has been in offshore renewables for the last eight years. She has been working with a number of offshore developers in the delivery of consent management and has a comprehensive understanding of the consenting, engineering, CAPEX and OPEX cost considerations in the delivery of offshore projects, Natural Power said.

She has worked on projects including Inch Cape, working closely with the Repsol (now Red Rock Power) team in the development of the design envelope and in the ecological stakeholder consultation required to achieve consent for the project and now in the revised application for larger turbines.

McLean has also worked with Moray Offshore Renewables, including extensive consultation with stakeholders and Marine Scotland during the consenting phase of the project; as well as on the Blyth Offshore Wind Demonstration Project, managing the scoping, EIA co-ordination and the consent management process through to consent award in 2013.

She also acts as Project Director for Natural Powers EIA and consent management services for AQUIND’s interconnector cable between France and the and is involved with working with our French offshore renewables clients.

“Offshore is entering a new phase now – the recent CfD rounds have shown that offshore wind competitive in Europe,” Nancy McLean said.

”As these projects are built out and the assets come out of warranty across the European market, there will be significant opportunities to develop an asset management service. These opportunities are already developing for offshore sites within a European context, and Natural Power will continue to build upon its competency and capability to operate in this space.”
