The site which is based off the Sussex coast in the UK will feature 116 turbines, each 3.45MW in capacity.

Commencing in the autumn of 2016, EDS will be responsible for all of the offshore 33kV cable jointing, termination and testing work on the 116 turbine wind farm.

EDS have been selected as a Tier 1 supplier, following a competitive tendering process.

Ken Ritson, Group Managing Director said: “We really wanted to play a part in this major offshore development, so to be chosen is just fantastic. As we continue on our growth journey, to win this bid as a Tier 1 supplier shows that we have truly tested ourselves against the wider market. We have a dedicated, highly competent and experienced team and we look forward to getting started and making an important contribution to this project.”

Fugro is currently installing and burying the first 57 of the 122 inter-array cables at the site with Fugro Symphony and Fugro Saltire. The vessels are expected to complete the first phase of the cable installation project this month. The second phase is expected to start in spring 2017 and completion is expected by summer 2017.

The GBP 1.3 billion Rampion offshore wind farm is being built 13km off the Sussex coast by E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank plc and Canadian energy company Enbridge. The wind farm is due to be completed in 2018.
