Deutsche Windtechnik Buys Into OutSmart
German wind turbine maintenance provider Deutsche Windtechnik has acquired a 70 per cent stake in the Dutch-German group OutSmart, which focuses on offshore operations management and management services.
OutSmart’s range of services in the area of offshore wind farm management includes technical and commercial management, 24/7 remote monitoring, HSEQ management, data analysis, reporting, and much more. Following the acquisition, OutSmart will be able to draw upon Deutsche Windtechnik’s experience in the areas of consultancy and project support.
“Due to increasing competition and cost pressure, the European energy market is in a transition phase and moving towards market consolidation. We are responding to this trend and will support our customers as a strong and independent service partner throughout the entire life cycle of wind energy projects,” said Dennis Schiricke, Managing Director of OutSmart.
The management of the new OutSmart group will include the current OutSmart managing directors Dennis Schiricke, Erwin Coolen and Maarten de Keijzer. They also hold the remaining 30 percent of the shares.
Jens Landwehr and Geert Timmers, Managing Director at Deutsche Windtechnik B.V., will also be appointed to the management board.
“OutSmart brings a wealth of experience in asset management and consulting expertise to the table. Together, we are able to provide each customer with what they need for optimal wind park operation. This begins with project planning and development, and it ranges from individual services that are specifically tailored to the customer’s needs to full service above and below water. Intelligent operations management is an important factor for profitable offshore wind park operation, perhaps even the most important,” said Jens Landwehr, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore und Consulting GmbH.
OutSmart’s headquarters in Velp, the Netherlands, as well as the Operations Control Centre in Emden and the office in Hamburg, Germany, will remain. The name OutSmart will also be kept until further notice.
Matthias Brandt, Board Director at Deutsche Windtechnik, said: “With OutSmart, we are optimally positioned as a competent and financially strong partner for project tenders in development and offshore operations management, not only in the Netherlands and Germany, but also in Great Britain, Belgium and the Scandinavian and French markets. This is particularly true for tenders of any kind that relate to operations management and service. Furthermore, we will be seeing positive synergy effects in the development of concepts, offers, and in carrying out the jobs we are commissioned to do.”
