UK-based Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC) have been appointed to provide the full Marine Coordination package for the Veja Mate offshore wind farm in Germany.

SMC will commence pre-construction start up works immediately and will be based in Hamburg. The company’s Marine Coordination Manager, Dean Coates, will commence mobilisation today (5 November).

Although located 115 km from the shore, Marine Coordinators and other stakeholders will be able to access critical statistics and construction data remotely from their base in Hamburg via SMC’s Marine Coordination Management System, the company explained.

SMC’s Managing Director Ian Coates stated: “SMC see this as a milestone in our provision of a comprehensive Marine Coordination service and look forward to working with the project team.”

The 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm, which will consist of 67 Siemens 6MW turbines, is currently in the pre-construction phase. Construction is due to start in March 2016, with completion expected in June 2017.
