ECOWindS Sets Date For Its Final Conference

The ECOWindS (European Clusters for Offshore Wind Servicing) project has announced the date for its final project conference as Tuesday 29th September 2015; the event will take place at the OrbisEnergy, the hub for Offshore Renewables, in Lowestoft.

The conference will bring together representatives from industry, regional and national administration and education and research establishments to discuss the innovation challenges facing the offshore wind servicing sector.

The day will be split into 4 sessions focusing on the needs of the offshore wind servicing industry and linked to the results and findings of the project. The 4 sessions are:

Cost Reduction through Innovation in Offshore Wind Servicing: A technical session on innovation & cost reduction in OWS; the big picture on innovation in OWS to achieve cost reductions.

ECOWindS the Joint Action Plan & Importance of EU Collaboration: The session will outline the key processes, results and deliverables of ECOWindS, present the JAP in more detail, and finally discuss the relevance of EU collaboration in R&D to developing the industry, and to industry players.

Panel Debate & Open Questions: The panel debate will include three or four panellists, and will be hosted by a chair who will facilitate the discussion based around questions posed during sessions 1 and 2. Delegates will be able to ask additional questions also.

Knowledge is Power – Innovation & the Challenge of Big Data: The need for innovations around the collection, analysis and use of big data has been highlighted several times during the ECOWindS project. This session will explore the issue in more detail looking at key challenges of using big data, identifying lessons learned from big data projects operating today, followed by a panel debate on Big Data issues and opportunities.
