KCI Introduces Double Slip Joint at EWEA Offshore
At the EWEA Offshore 2015 in Copenhagen, the Dutch company KCI has presented its Double Slip Joint (DSJ) concept to the offshore wind community.
KCI’s DSJ is a patented solution to replace grouted or bolted connections between monopile and transition piece. With the DSJ, a simple alternative for a permanent non-moving rigid connection is now available.
The company said that the product’s major advantages are ease of fabrication and sharp decreases in installation times and costs. With the DSJ, there is no need for grouted connections to cure nor for bolted connections to be tightened by heavy hydraulic tools.
The tower, nacelle, blades and appurtenances can be installed immediately after installation of the transition piece.
