Rhenus Offshore Launches Fixed-Price Cargo Service to OWFs

Rhenus Offshore Logistics started adopting a sustainable approach this month with fixed prices for cargo runs to wind parks out at sea. Customers can now arrange supply and disposal services for their platforms and ships from Emden and Cuxhaven – at any time of day or night.

“We handled at least a dozen of these trips to offshore wind parks for two or more customers during the second half of 2014. Based on the experience gained from these operations, we’ve been able to develop a product that makes the costs incurred much more transparent than in the past by offering a fixed price,” Thore Schreiber, who is responsible for this project at Rhenus Offshore Logistics, explains. “The multi-user approach also creates savings that we can pass on to our customers.”

“In doing so, we make use of ali the capacity available within the Rhenus network for offshore cargo runs heading for the wind parks. The customer has just one contact partner and a fixed price for each supply trip; as a result, we provide clarity and efficiency when handling this task,” Bjorn Wittek, Managing Director of Rhenus Offshore Logistics, adds.

Rhenus Offshore Logistics, founded in the summer of 2014, pools Rhenus Group’s logistics activities in the offshore sector. One major focus of its operations is geared towards offering supply and disposal services for high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) converter platforms and substations at the wind parks in the German Bight and the jack-up vessels operating there.
