Video: Servicing Wind Turbines

This year, as part of its new offshore logistics concept, Siemens is scheduled to begin utilizing its first two Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) commissioned specifically for the Butendiek and Baltic II offshore wind projects in Germany.

SOVs are a standalone unit featuring enough space for accommodation and storage of spare parts. Gangway systems allow for safe movement from ship to turbine.

Siemens has recently published a video in which it shows the importance of wind turbine servicing, saying that it is a unique challenge that calls for experience and tailor-made logistics.

“Siemens service workers have use of the world’s biggest toolkit: An armada of helicopters, transfer boats and purpose-built vessels keep our customers offshore turbines at their peak,” the company has stated.
