MPI Offshore’s wind-turbine-installation vessel, MPI Adventure, has successfully completed the installation of the Humber Gateway Substation, following a very efficient transportation and installation period.
This contract, which was undertaken for E.ON, involved the load out and installation of a total of 2,508Te, including:
- Jacket foundation (570Te)
- 8 Piles (680 Te each)
- Module Support Frame (320Te)
- 2 Topside Modules (450Te each)
- Sling Laydown Platform (20Te)
- 2 Stairs
Early concepts of a Modular build took shape late in 2011, with the building-block approach structured around the lift-and-installation capacities of MPI Adventure. Final preparations and the phased load-out onto MPI Adventure were undertaken from multiple ports, involving many subcontractors, such as drillers, grouters, scaffolders, welders and painters.
