Indian Company Introduces Portable Helipads for Offshore Structures (VIDEO)
According to 365Design, based in Hyderabad, India, the company has developed a new portable helipad applicable on offshore wind farms.
365Design says that the solution is cost-effective and more safe, with no need for hoist operations. A helicopter can land directly onto a portable helipad.
As offshore wind farm developers place helipad decks on a wind farm structure, the structure’s weight increases, and so is the cost. Now, they can fix a portable heliport onto a wind farm structure to allow helicopters like Airbus models to land. Beside reducing the structure’s weight and cost, this provides safer operations and saves time, the company explains.
A portable helipad can be used in existing offshore wind farms or new ones, by replacing the hoist platform.
