North Devon Rejects Atlantic Array Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

North Devon Council’s Planning Committee yesterday voted 10:3 against the development of the Atlantic Array offshore wind farm.

Torridge District Council and Devon County Council made no objections to the project at yesterday’s meetings. However, North Devon’s councilors declined the project saying that it is not economically viable to the area, the BBC informs. The proximity of wind turbines to the coast could damage the landscape of North Devon and thus have a negative impact on tourism, the councilors concluded after two hours of discussing the project.

Around 25 people attended the meeting to protest against the offshore wind plans.

This decision made by councilors will now be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate as part of their consultation on the application.
