Norway: Ocean Industry Week 2014 Kicks Off in a Year

May will see the launch of Ocean Industry Week 2014. The successor to Oslo Maritime Week 2012, the event will broaden its scope beyond shipping to include the Ocean Industry super-cluster.

These so-called Ocean Industries – maritime, offshore energy and seafood – were in sharp focus at Nor-Shipping 2013 and featured in events such as the Ocean Technology Summit and Nor-Shipping Venture Forum.

The program for Ocean Industry Week 2014 will consist of various sub-events organized into three areas:

  • Market and Finance
  • Education and Human Resources
  • Services and Technology

Contributors will be able to present their content to an audience focused on business development, human resources, or technology and product development.

How to compete
Market and Finance will appeal to business developers and top managers. Possible themes to be explored include Arctic industry development, regulation and trade policies and how to create effective marketplaces.

Presentations on Education and HR management will look at its role in a super-cluster. How to compete in a global market to create not only career opportunities but also a way of life will be the burning question.

The ambition for the Services and Technology area is to facilitate cross-discipline communication between technologists and business decision-makers in order to improve their joint value creation.

Around 800 maritime professionals attended Oslo Maritime Week 2012. This number is set to soar, considering the wider sweep of Ocean Industry Week. Early booking is advised.
