Denmark: Bladt Raises Borkum Riffgrund Jacket

Early this morning, a team of Bladt’s blacksmiths and engineers combined with raw crane power made use of the early sunrays to start raising the jacket foundation for the Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore substation.

Everything went as planned and the jacket and the substation will be ready for load out later this year as scheduled.

The offshore substation for Borkum Riffgrund 1 Offshore Wind Farm arrived at Bladt Industries’ facilities in Aalborg, Denmark, in December 2012.

The wind farm will be one of Germany’s largest wind farms with a capacity of 320 MW, and will be able to supply CO2-free power equivalent to nearly 330,000 German households’ annual power consumption. It is located approx. 55 km from the north-west coast of Germany. Construction is expected to start in 2013, and the farm will supply power from 2014.
