Anholt OWF: Ripple Effect among Suppliers (Denmark)

Anholt OWF Ripple Effect Among Suppliers (Denmark)

The construction of Anholt Offshore Wind Farm has a ripple effect among the suppliers – and not least the local suppliers.

Already before the Anholt project was launched in Grenaa in 2010, activists in the local area decided – supported by visionary local business development politics – to establish a network organisation of the local suppliers; a new and unique initiative in the form of an umbrella organisation named Djurs Wind Power.

The purpose of Djurs Wind Power is and will be to ensure that as many tasks as possible – both during construction and operation of the offshore wind farm – are solved in a qualified way by local suppliers.

Today, the network counts 32 suppliers, from carpenters and master bricklayers, transport and logistics operators, crane suppliers and lawyers to hotels, airports and ferry lines just to mention a few. And the success of the network organisation Djurs Wind Power is definitely measurable.

So far, the companies have obtained orders for the amount of DKK 220 million, and approximately 50 new workplaces have been created.
