S3 Celebrates Successful Year Since Winning Subsea UK’s New Enterprise Award

S3 Celebrates Successful Year Since Winning Subsea UK’s New Enterprise Award.

Aberdeen-based Specialist Subsea Services (S3), a provider of ROV, survey and vessel services to the international energy industry, is celebrating a successful year since winning Subsea UK’s New Enterprise award last year.

Following this prestigious accolade, awarded in recognition of S3’s vision in business development and overall contribution to the subsea sector, UK and internationally, the company has more than doubled its turnover from £4.8m to £12m.

Part of this success has been put down to the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm contract win – the first major renewable contract that S3 has won to date. It is one of the largest offshore wind farms under construction in Europe and saw S3 mobilise its vessel, the Sentinel, to undertake survey and debris clearance from the site.

Work on the project involved the deployment of ROV equipment, use of the company’s hydraulic grab, survey, positioning equipment and seabed mapping systems in order to detect seabed targets – such as natural boulders and manmade debris – for inspection and possible removal.

S3 has also enjoyed great success from working closely in support of its parent company Reef Subsea AS, providing ROV and Survey operational support.

Graeme Kidd, managing director at S3, commented: “Winning the award last year was a fitting achievement and recognised the team’s sterling efforts here at S3.

“Since last February we have attracted a broad scope of work, Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm being one of the most significant projects which will help us expand our influence in the renewables industry and also internationally. I feel this is testament to the outstanding levels of service we provide to our clients, as well as our pioneering approach.”

S3 is an Aberdeen-based provider of ROVs and survey services to the oil and gas and renewable industries. Adopting a “life of field” approach, S3 offers its customers a comprehensive package of services that includes: offshore installation and construction support, IRM, decommissioning and precise positioning and surveys for construction vessels and drilling rigs.
