Taiwan Orders AXYS WindSentinel

AXYS Technologies Inc. (AXYS) announces that they have been contracted by the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan to supply the WindSentinel™ wind resource assessment buoy.

The purchase has been funded by a National Science Council grant under the Master Program of the National Science and Technology Program – Energy for Offshore Wind. The system will be used to support Taiwan’s development of 3 GW of offshore wind projects.

At this first stage, the WindSentinel will be deployed in the Super Tank at NCKU’s world renowned Tainan Hydraulics Lab (THL).

AXYS are represented in Taiwan by SINO Instrument Enterprise Co. who will be assisting in the deployment and servicing of the system.

“We are excited to be invited to work with NCKU and SINO at this early stage of offshore wind development in Taiwan,” says Graham Howe, International Business Development – Renewable Energy at AXYS Technologies Inc.

The WindSentinel™ will be constructed at the AXYS facility in Sidney, BC Canada, with deployment scheduled for Summer 2013.  At its core, the WindSentinel™ uses the Vindicator, a simultaneous pulsed, motion compensated LiDAR to capture wind data that will then be transmitted and analyzed by NCKU researchers.
