Germany: L-3 SAM Electronics Establishes Wind Farm Energy Working Group

L-3 SAM Electronics announced today the establishment of a major intercompany working group dedicated to providing all-inclusive technical solutions in support of the development and maintenance of offshore wind energy farms and associated platforms and services.

Headed by SAM, the group is comprised of other leading companies within the L-3 Marine & Power Systems Group, including ELAC Nautik, FUNA Global Safety Systems and JOVYATLAS. Together, the divisions provide an unrivalled number of solutions that have already been individually commissioned in support of several key renewable energy projects in the North Sea.

“By pooling the proven resources and expertise of specialist organizations within L-3 Marine & Power Systems, we will provide an unprecedented selection of services to support the increasingly important global offshore industry,” said Maik Stoevhase, senior vice president of L-3 SAM Electronics.

Available services include the provision of fully integrated navigation and communications equipment, such as IP radars, ECDIS and AIS, wind and weather information facilities, and marine and aeronautical VHF systems. The group will also supply complete CCTV networks, marine-tested firefighting and protection systems, door access controls, public address and general alarm technologies, LAN-based control and monitoring for transformer platforms, and high- and low-voltage switchboards. Also available are UPS and battery supplies, resistors, sonar transponders for averting subsea collisions, navigation and general lighting assemblies, type-approved classified sea markings, and design and installation of complete cable networks, as well as other turnkey capabilities.
