Denmark: LWT to Buy Ultra High-Power Laser for Welding Offshore Foundations

Lindoe Welding Technology (LWT) has entered into an agreement to purchase the world’s largest commercially available ultra high-power laser, which is to be installed and put into operation before the end of the year.

The laser has an effect of 32 kW, and it is the intention of LWT – founded jointly by Force Technology and LORC – to use this ultra high-power laser for innovation and development of the industry’s welding, cutting and cladding technology.

LWT will specifically look into new welding methods for the heavy section industries, among others the wind power industry, focusing on the welding of towers and offshore foundations.

“We are now very much looking forward to beginning the actual work of adopting ultra high-power laser technology to industrial applications. The technology has the potential to re-innovate production technologies in a wide variety of industries – particularly those including welding,” says LWT‘s CEO, Christian Højerslev.

Not only does LWT offer its users access to second-to-none laser power, given its presence in Lindø Industrial Park, it also offers an unrivalled infrastructure for the testing of industrial production, building of full-scale prototypes, as well as training and courses in high-power laser technology.
