Germany: Consumers to Pay for Offshore Wind Farm Risk

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) brings information regarding the draft regulations of the Federal Ministry of Economy, which says that German electricity consumers will share the cost of financial risk of offshore wind farms and their grid connection.

The new rules primarily concern the network connections in the North and Baltic Seas, for which TenneT and 50Hertz are the responsible companies. It should make their investment and the search for capital providers easier.
