J+S Launches Mooring Verification System (MVS) at AllEnergyUK

Barnstaple and Aberdeen based engineering firm J+S enjoyed a successful launch of their latest addition to their marine renewable energy product portfolio at AllEnergyUK in Aberdeen last May.

The J+S Mooring Verification System (MVS) is an extension of the subsea range of products developed specifically for the Marine Renewables Sector and the first product to be launched from their planned MVS range. The scalable system brings together a number of disciplines from the broad engineering expertise they have at J+S to provide a robust solution towards making the Marine Renewables industry a safer environment.

Deployment of MVS enables a device operator to monitor and log the strains on a mooring line thus enabling the device developer to ensure their device is appropriately tethered and stays on station.

This product also demonstrates strong collaboration between academia and industry and has been the result of an 18-month KTP programme with Exeter University.

General Manager of Marine Renewables Chris Napier commented: “We were pleased to be able to exhibit our latest addition to our existing splice systems at All-Energy 2012 and have already received considerable interest in the Mooring Verification System.”

J+S Ltd operates from sites in Barnstaple and Aberdeen, employing 136 people engaged on a range of engineering and production activities, primarily in naval support, marine renewable energy and subsea asset management for the North Sea Oil and Gas exploration markets.
